CRPF Full Form

CRPF Full Form is Central Reserved Police Force .The Central Reserve Police Force ( CRPF) has earned the distinction of its being India's largest Central Armed Police Forces. It is under the direction of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of the Government of India.

The CRPF's primary role is helping the State/Union Territories with police operations to ensure peace, order, and law as well as counter-insurgency. It has been holding the lead in anti-Naxal operation in the past five years and it has also achieved significant milestones that merit consideration.

CRPF Full Form - A Brief History

CRPF was originally established as an official part of the Crown Representative Police in 1939 It is one of the oldest Central paramilitary forces (now known as the Central Armed Police Force). CRPF was established in response to the political unrest and the insurgency in the then princely States of India following the Madras Resolution of the All-India Congress Committee in 1936, and the rising desire by the Chief Representative to assist the majority of the native States to ensure peace and order as part of the imperial policies.

Following the declaration of independence, the force was changed into Central Reserve Police Force by an Act of Parliament on December 28 1949. The Act created CRPF as an armed police force of the Union. Sardar Vallabh bhai Patel, the Home Minister of the time, saw a broad role for the force in accordance with the ever-changing demands of a new independent nation.

The CRPF Rules as envisaged in CRPF Act were framed in 1955 and released within the Gazette of India dated March 25 of 1955. Shri V.G.Kanetkar was appointed as first Director General of CRPF.since then it is working relentlessly to create India an improved place as well as a sanctuary of peace.
